Job info

Please read through our Services page to get a general understanding of what the job entails, as well as the description below of what we're looking for in potential candidates.

Pay averages around $25 - $30 per hour with additional (usually very generous) tips  + holiday bonuses. CLCS cat sitters are W-2 employees and pay is administered bi-weekly via direct deposit.

Cat Ladies Cat Sitting provides cat sitting services in client homes located mostly in north and central Seattle neighborhoods, including downtown. A typical day of cat sitting involves driving to approximately 5-8 different client homes between 9am - 6pm and providing care for our cat clients. During busy holiday weeks/holiday weekends cat sitters will often take on more cat clients per day. Each visit is around 30 minutes long (with the exception of holiday, holiday-adjacent, and holiday weekend visits which are often abbreviated due to high volume.)

Most daily routes include cats that require morning visits, cats that can be visited any time during normal business hours (9am - 5pm) and another set of cats that require evening visits. Sitters typically end up with 2-3 hour break in the day between their morning +afternoon cat sits and their evening cat sits.

The services we provide include feeding, administering medications, cleaning litter boxes, bringing in mail and packages, watering plants, etc. Sitters are also responsible for sending pictures and updates to clients during  cat sitting visits.

The best cat sitting candidates will have either prior veterinary experience, professional pet sitting experience, or a love of cats combined with domestic work experience (nannying, caregiving, housecleaning, etc.)

This is a domestic labor job that involves a lot of physical movement throughout the day and also requires driving and parking in dense urban areas. Job candidates will need a car, proof of car insurance, a smartphone, and must be able to provide three local job or volunteer references (not references from friends or family) and pass a background check.

Don't let the name "Cat Ladies" mislead you - we'd love to hear from anyone who is interested in working for us....as long as you're not a dog! ;)

  • We hire sitters who are "cat people" - folks who shamelessly love cats and will shower our cat clients with love and affection.
  • We require that job candidates have a reliable personal vehicle (with proof of insurance).
  • The job also requires that you own a smart phone and are able to download and use various apps easily and have enough storage space available on your phone to download communication apps such as WhatsApp and Signal and security apps such as August Smart Lock.
  • We hire people who we can trust to be compassionate, gentle, and patient with our cat clients - no matter how feisty or difficult they are with us. We always strive to treat our cat clients like furry babies.
  • It's best if you don't have cat allergies or have issues cleaning up nasty messes (i.e. litter boxes, hairballs, cat vomit, accidents outside of the box, etc.) or have any issues with providing services in homes that are cluttered or unkempt.
  • It's preferable if you are able to lift up to 50lbs. and are able to climb stairs.
  •  Common sense, the ability to problem solve, and good communication skills are key attributes we look for in new hires.
  • You'll need to be able to be professional and respect clients' wishes and their homes.
  • We prioritize hiring candidates who have experience administering medications to felines (including injections) or who have the willingness, confidence, and ability to learn how to administer meds to cats.
  • It's ideal if you live within close proximity to our Seattle service area.
  • You will need to pass a background check and be able to provide three local job/volunteer references (not references from friends or family members.)

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!

Testimonial

Former Cat Lady Lea L. says, "I  had a wonderful time working for Cat Ladies Cat Sitting for over a year. It is very rewarding being able to work with animals and having so many fur friends. I had hundreds and hundreds of friends and it didn't feel like work. Especially when I was waving a feather around or getting cuddles on the couch. You form special bonds and relationships with your clients. And they are the cutest clients!!! If you love cats you will love this job."
